Delete your Aba account and data
Effective date: 07/08/2026 Last updated: 07/08/2026
This page explains how to request deletion of your Aba account and the data associated with it. Aba is a personal budgeting app published by José Posada ("Aba", "we", "us"). If you have any trouble following the steps below, contact us at privacy@getaba.app and we will delete your account for you.
How to request deletion (in the app)
- Open the Aba app and make sure you are signed in.
- Go to Settings (the menu / gear icon).
- Tap Delete account.
- Read the confirmation, then tap Delete account again to confirm.
That's it — no email or form is required. As soon as you confirm:
- your account is deactivated immediately and you are signed out on every device;
- reminder and report emails and push notifications stop right away;
- a 30‑day cancellation window begins.
You can change your mind. If you sign back in with the same email or Google account within 30 days, the deletion is cancelled and your account and data are restored exactly as they were. After 30 days the deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
If you can't open the app
If you no longer have the app installed or cannot sign in, email privacy@getaba.app from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it. We will verify your request and delete your account, and we may ask you to confirm a few details to protect your account from unauthorized deletion.
Cancel your subscription separately
Deleting your account does not cancel a paid Aba Pro subscription, because subscriptions are billed and managed by Google Play (or the App Store), not by Aba. If you have an active subscription, cancel it in your Google Play / App Store account so you are not charged again. Billing records held by the app store are governed by the store's own policies.
What data is deleted
When the deletion completes, we permanently erase all personal data tied to your account, including:
- Account & profile: your email address, name, phone number and language/region preferences.
- Your financial notes: every account and balance, all transactions and scheduled movements, credit‑card cycles, categories and reminders you created. (Aba does not connect to your bank — all of this is data you entered manually.)
- Settings & preferences: notification, email and display settings.
- Devices & sign‑in: push‑notification tokens and your authentication identities (email one‑time‑code and, if used, Google Sign‑In).
What is retained, and for how long
- During the 30‑day cancellation window, your data is retained (but inaccessible to you while signed out) so the deletion can be reversed. If you don't return, it is erased automatically.
- Timeframe for full deletion: your personal data is deleted or anonymized within 30 days of your request.
- Backups: residual copies in routine encrypted backups are removed on the normal backup‑rotation cycle shortly after.
- Legal exceptions: we may keep limited records where the law requires it, or to resolve disputes or enforce our agreements. These are kept only for as long as legally required and are then deleted.
- Support images: images you attached to a support request are kept only as long as needed to handle that request and are then deleted.
